Tyrelok Specifications
The bands are manufactured from aluminium extrusions produced by Huletts Aluminium in South Africa. The alloy is produced to Aluminium Association specification AA6061 temper T-4. Each half of the safety bands is individually punched, cut, formed and assembled for all standard sized passenger, truck and bus wheel rims. The 4 securing pins are manufactured from grade 206 8mm brass bar.
Our unique trademarked semi-sinusoidal clip was developed for Tyrelok by AFSA. It has 11 mm of elasticity that keeps the safety band very tight in the wheel well under all conditions. The clip is jointly owned by BMA and AFSA, and cannot be used by any other safety band manufacturer.
BMA Marketing has continued to develop and upgrade our own aluminium bands and in January 2006 made significant improvements to the securing mechanisms of our Namathela Tyrelok Safety Bands. A very user-friendly upgrade to the securing bolt was introduced. An M5 Nylock nut is fixed into position on the milled step of the pin with a stainless steel clip. This enables fitment with one socket spanner. The spanner, which is supplied, is 450mm long with a 50mm lever allowing for adequate torque to tighten the bands onto the wheel rim. (6 Newton metres).
The essential purpose inherent to the Tyrelok Safety band is that it is designed primarily to prevent death and injury to people and damage to vehicles and assets, rather than saving tyres.

BMA Marketing is confident that the combination of the semi-sinusoidal clip, the fully threaded 5mm stainless steel bolt and the Nylock offers the best and most effective securing mechanism for passenger and truck safety bands.
The fitting and removal of Tyreloks is very user friendly and when using the Tyrelok fitting tool it will take no longer than 5 minutes to fit the bands into place on the wheel rim.

Securing mechanism
The bands are fixed into place on the wheel rim with the unique semi-sinusoidal clip and a M5 stainless steel set screw with Nylock nut.
The spring clip is manufactured from AA6082 alloy temper T-6 technical grade, and is secured into position in the wheel well with a firm blow forcing the open end over the pin.
When removing the safety band to change or repair the tyre, the clip SHOULD NOT be prised loose from the pin before easing the tension on the band by loosening the M5 set screw first.
Tyreloks are boxed in sets of 4 wheels.
BMA Marketing will supply in quantities required by our customers.
(5, 6, or 7 wheels depending on the wheel configuration of the vehicle to be protected.)
