What are the direct advantages of using NAMATHELA TYRELOK™ Safety Bands?
- It is the most inexpensive and cost effective way to ensure absolute wheel safety (one band costs ¼ of the price of a new tyre and lasts a lifetime)
- The unique “Tyrelok” aluminium clip secures the band firmly on the wheel rim at all times. It makes the fitting and removal of the band from the wheel rim very easy.
- It provides fail-safe protection against loss of control of vehicles in the event of burst tyres or any other form of tyre failure.
- It ensures active protection to drivers, vehicles, passengers, loads and trailers.
- It protects and saves lives
- It prevents damage to third parties
Is NAMATHELA TYRELOK™ compatible with current tyre fitment procedures?
- Fitting of NAMATHELA TYRELOK™ presents little adjustment to current operations for tyre fitting and re-fitting.
- Using a safety band fitting unit the assembly personnel install the bands onto the rims with no extra engineering or mechanical work required.
- Installation requires 5-8 minutes additional time per wheel for fitting.
Does NAMATHELA TYRELOK™ complicate operations?
- No - Fitting NAMATHELA TYRELOK™ is a simple operation - fit them once, secure well and the safety band provides full operational protection
- Since each safety band weighs less than 300g (cars) to 1.2kg (trucks) and, once fitted becomes a fixed part of the rim.
Wheel balancing is not affected, as only one bead of the tyre is broken when fitting to existing tyres and when fitting new tyres the wheels are balanced again anyway.
Are there legal requirements to fitting safety bands?
- The Eighth Amendment to the National Road Traffic Regulations gazetted on the 2nd September 2005 is enforceable from the 1st July 2006 and states that:
“All minibuses, midibuses and buses operating in terms of an operating licence issued in accordance with the NLTTA shall, be fitted with an anti-burst stabilizer device”.
What do I do if I have a flat tyre?
- If you have a spare wheel just change it and drive to your nearest tyre dealer where there is a fitment unit (please refer to our list of fitment centres, there are in excess of 300 such centres nationwide) Inform your tyre dealer that you have safety bands fitted . He will remove the bands, repair the tyre. and re-fit the safety bands to the rim.
- If you are in a remote area and have to repair the tyre yourself, you will be able to remove the Tyrelok using a screw driver, or the spanner supplied as a lever to release the semi-sinusoidal clip (There is a spanner supplied with every set of Tyreloks which will loosen the bolt on the Tyrelok. ) Once this is done you will be able to take the Tyrelok out of the rim and then repair the tyre as normal. Re-fit the Tyrelok onto the wheel when you can get to a fitment centre.
Do safety bands need to be fitted to low profile”Runflat”tyres?
- No - It is not necessary to fit safety bands to these tyres because with the low profile sidewalls they are designed in such a way that they do not fall into the wheel well thereby remaining on the rim.
NAMATHELA TYRELOK™ presents the cheapest way to protect your family in any vehicle
- The costs of fitting and of training suitable personnel in the use of the band are very low because the system is so simple.
How reliable is NAMATHELA TYRELOK™?
- Correctly fitted, Tyreloks will prevent the tyre from dropping in to the wheel well and will therefore ensure driver control in the event of tyre failure and they come with a three year guarantee.
- They can be re-used on the same size wheel rim.
